"The Red Thread of Fate"

 Have you ever heard of the Chinese red thread of fate ?


        It goes by saying that we are tied to our soulmate by red thread of fate. The thread may stretch or tangled but it will never bread regardless of time, space or circumstances. The two people Connected by the red thread are destined to be together. This myth is similar to the western concept of Soulmate. The original Chinese myth, it is tied around both partner's ankles. Same way in Japanese culture it is bound from a male's thumb to a female's little finger. The color red in Chinese Culture symbolizes happiness and it also prominently featured in Chinese wedding. Let's see an example story of it.

           A girl named Shin Ha-ri has a crush on a boy and decides to declare her love for him. Unfortunately the boy (Kang Tae moo) rejects her and make fun of her. Shin Ha- ri runs off to a fountain where she meets Yue Lao ( The deity in charge of "the red thread") who tells her they are soul mates. Shin Ha-ri is still fuming and runs off. When Shin Ha-ri becomes a lady, she meets a young man who seems very charming and in other terms familiar to her. She then ask a man for his name and he says the name of the young boy. Shin Ha-ri doesn't seem to realize through and then on their special day, he tells her that a girl liked him but he was foolish and made fun of her for it. He then exclaims the girl had the same name as her. When Shin Ha-ri realize who he was, she admits that she was the girl and Tae Moo apologize to her. There's many stories are available in ancient Chinese mythology.
